SuperSport United Fires Hunt

In a shocking turn of events, SuperSport United has parted ways with their coach, Gavin Hunt.
After a difficult season with just five wins in 21 league games, Matsantsantsa have decided to let go of their coach.
The club currently sits 15th on the Betway Premiership league table, having secured only 21 points from 21 matches. Their recent 3-1 defeat to TS Galaxy further deepened concerns about potential relegation.
In an official statement on Friday night, 21 March, the club said: “SuperSport United FC and Head Coach Gavin Hunt have reached a mutual agreement to part ways with immediate effect.”
They also offered their thanks, and wished Hunt well for his future endeavours.
This marks Hunt’s second tenure with SuperSport United. During his initial stint from 2007 to 2013, he led the team to three consecutive league titles. His return in 2022 was met with high expectations, which have not come to fruition.
The Pretoria-based franchise announced that assistant coach Andre Arendse will assume the role of interim head coach, with goalkeeper coach Grant Johnson serving as his assistant.
